In 2006, veteran journalist and editor D.E. Kern uprooted himself from his long-time home in Pennsylvania to follow his passion in poetry. Kern is pursuing his Master's Degree in Fine Arts—Poetry—at San Jose State University, San Jose, California. He plans to seek a professorship upon completion of his MFA. Ellen Peckham (who until 2000 signed her prints E. Stoepel Peckham) was born in 1938 in Rochester, NY. She is a poet and a visual artist and has read, published and exhibited across the U.S. and in Europe and Latin America. She frequently uses both art forms in a single work, the text decorating and explicating, the image illuminating. She is co-founder, with her husband, Anson, of Atelier A/E, the first gallery to open in the Chelsea arts area and, both for the Atelier and for other organizations, has judged and curated many shows. Her work has been published in Rattapallax, Visions, The Literary Review, The Amherst Review, Alehouse, Poetalk, The Christian Science Monitor and other publications in the US as well as in Great Britain, India, Switzerland and elsewhere. Both her visual art and writing are featured in Continuing Tradition: Doubly Gifted Artists, Ticket Stubbs and in Poem, Revised. She is a winner of the Maggi H. In April 1955 David Blaine was born in a pizza patch in the Bronx, New York. His parents moved him to rural Michigan when he was 3. Dave still resides there, living and working with his wife, children and cat. Submission Specifics

With the increase in interest in Poetry Live (many thanks to those who have helped get the word out), here are the general guidelines for submitting your work:

By submitting a work, you are stating it is your voice on the recording, you are the author of the poem being submitted, and you have the right to post your work in this format. You are are agreeing to grant Poetry Live one-time publishing rights; all rights revert to the author upon publication.
Limit the length of the work to under three minutes. The shorter the length, the smaller the file size, and some listers will prefer smaller file sizes.
Choose the file that includes the poem you feel best represents your work (do keep in mind that Poetry Live is usually broadcast as "clean," though we would certainly consider adult topics).
Include a two-line bio and a third line for contact information (a Web site or e-mail address where those interested in your work may contact you).
I usually manage the artwork presented with each poem, unless the poet is also an artist and has devised some piece directly related to the poem.
Also, if you submit a work that was recorded live, please credit the venue in some small way, as we have done for Marion Cohen. I can pull a single poem from several recorded at a venue, so don't let that deter you.

After your work is posted, be sure to notify your friends and post the link to your own Web site, if you like. Thank you for your interest in Poetry Live! There is no pay to authors and no fee for submission. The Poetry Live site benefits from links on a number of writers group sites, as well as individual subscriptions, feeds, and unique visitors. This helps solitary authors make connections with audiences they might not reach on their own.
